How to Find Your Perfect Jade Bangle Size
If you’ve ever fallen in love with the beauty of a jade bangle but worried about getting the right fit, you’re not alone. Jade bangles are unique in that they don't have clasps or adjustable links, making sizing especially important.
Finding the right size means the difference between a bangle that fits comfortably and one that’s either too tight, or if it's too large - there's a higher chance of it slipping off with sudden movements. A loose bangle also moves more freely on your wrist, increasing the chances of accidental impacts, which could lead to fractures or breakage.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you find the perfect jade bangle size, so you can wear it with comfort and confidence. Once you know your size, it makes all the jade bangle shopping in the future much more fun and enjoyable! :)
Step 1: Measure Your Hand, Not Just Your Wrist
Unlike bracelets, jade bangles slip over your hand, so you’ll need to measure around the widest part of your hand instead of your wrist.
What you need:
1. A soft measuring tape or
2. A ruler, a marker + a piece of thick string or shoelace.
Step 2: Find Your Perfect Bangle Diameter
Now that you have your hand’s circumference, you can calculate your jade bangle’s ideal diameter using our sizing chart below. Please note that for individuals that are not flexible with their hands, it's recommended that you go for a looser fit.
Step 3: Consider Sizing Up or Down
When it comes to jade, a snug fit can be elegant, but a little extra room offers flexibility if your hands tend to swell or if you like a looser feel.
Think about how often you want to wear your bangle and if there are physical activities that will potentially expose your bangle to accidental impacts (e.g. If you're a gym gal - think about if you plan to wear it during/take it off before workout).
For a snug fit: Go with the exact measurement (or even size down if you have flexible hands/a thin wrist). For a looser fit: Consider sizing up by about 0.5 cm in diameter. For individuals who are not flexible with their hands, it's recommended that you go for a looser fit.
Step 5: Try It On (If Possible)
If you can, try a few bangles to get a feel for the fit. Jade’s structure is rigid, and once it’s on, a bangle should feel comfortable but secure.
Key Tips for Finding Your Jade Bangle Size
- Measure multiple times: Since this is an investment piece, take a few measurements to ensure accuracy.
- Consider temperature and time of day: Our hands swell slightly throughout the day, so aim to measure at a comfortable time (e.g. not the first thing in the morning!).
- Test with a bangle you already own/in store: If you have a rigid bracelet at home that fits well, measure its diameter as a reference. This can give you a good idea of what size to look for in a jade bangle.
- If you can take it off really easily - If you can slide it on and off without using any lubricant (e.g. lotion), it's too loose!
