What is Sterling Silver 925?
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver and typically contains 92.5% of silver and 7.5% of other metals. Pure silver is very soft and malleable, this is why it is mixed with 7.5% of other metals. This ensures the jewellery will hold its shape and be more durable over time.
What is Gold-plating?
Gold plating is an electrochemical process by which a thin layer of gold is deposited on the surface of another metal. An electric current draws gold ions, which are positively charged, through a gold bath solution, allowing them to adhere to the negatively charged piece of metal.
Most places usually cheap materials like copper as the base metal. At Jayde Jewellery, we only use 925 Sterling Silver as the base metal to give you quality you deserve at affortable prices. It is also nickel free so it's hypoallergenic and gentle on your skin!
What is Gold Vermeil?
Gold Vermeil is essentially gold-plating but the gold layer is thicker and the base metal must be 925 Sterling Silver. At Jayde Jewellery, our Gold Vermeil thickness is at least 2.5 microns thick over Sterling Silver for better durability.
